Personal Take on Singing For Freedom

Singing for FreedomSinging for Freedom by Ani Choying Drolma

Singing For Freedom presents forth a lady who dared take the driver’s seat and steer her life the way she wanted managing to break the cycle of drudgery, domestic violence propelled largely by the congenital rebellious nature and it’s well-disposition thanks to Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Over and done with daily whacks and smacks she decided to get shelter at the nunnery which takes her to Nagi Gompa and a reunion with Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, revered master who inculcated her with spiritual and philosophical tenets facilitating her transformation from Pomo to Choying Drolma, from worned out to well-being despite the pestering family tidings. A prayer ceremony and the chants from Ani Dharmasoba kindles her predilection to singing honed daily under Kunsong Dechen, master’s better half. The serendipitous rendezvous at Andreas quarter, German monk at Nagi Gompa then, with Steven Tibbett, musician hailing from Minneapolis, catapults Choying to the musical scene and shortly afterwards to the domestic stardom. Familiar with the reality of nuns, or those who become nuns, she founded Arya Tara Pre School at Arubari road and Arya Tara School at Pharping educating nuns from the country to across the border from Tibet and India.

The book is stuffed with the life lessons Choying mustered and mastered over the years, the virtues assembled from years of self-discovery leading to profundity of things.
